A solution might be found by installing a standalone Beast. It seems the original developer "Illuminate Labs" has been bought by Autodesk. If a standalone Beast could be installed on a separate Wine prefix, we might find out what extra libraries it uses, if that is the reason for the crash. http://gameware.autodesk.com/beast
Crashes even on fresh install, with only fonts pre-installed and a scene with a single light and cube.
Note: Beast executables can be found under:
/Program Files/Unity/Editor/Data/Tools/Beast/
Though this is all it says when executed with Wine:
[INFO] Autodesk Beast (Rev: 179347)
[WARNING] Default license file not found: C:/illm/tb.dat
[WARNING] Default license file not found: tb.dat
[WARNING] Default license file not found: C:\Program Files\Unity\Editor\Data\Tools\Beast/tb.dat
[ERROR] Unable to open license file
[ERROR] This copy of Beast does not have a valid license file or a connection to a license server!
[ERROR] No valid license found!
To reproduce - Bake a single object with "Single Lightmap" mode.
