Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

If researchers publish a dataset alongside a journal article, it is increasingly common that the journal reviewers also review the dataset belonging to the journal article. However, because journal peer review is most often done anonymously. reviewing the dataset should also be possible without seeing metadata that could reveal the identity or institute of the authors. As far as I know this is not possible in Yoda, whereas it is in DataverseNL, Open Science Framework, and FigShare.

Describe the solution you'd like

An option to create an anonymous reviewers link. It is to be discussed where in the process of data publication this option should be available, since after publication it would require publishing a whole new version of the dataset in case reviewers see things that need to be adjusted.

Describe alternatives you've considered

  • Researchers could use other platforms to share the data anonymously, e.g. via a SURFdrive anonymous read-only link, or by choosing DataverseNL / OSF / Figshare or something else to publish their data instead of Yoda.
  • Reviewers could be given read-only access in the Yoda group, and it has to be accepted that the review cannot be done anonymously.

Additional context

This question was raised by one of the UU faculty data stewards who helped a researcher who submitted an article at a data journal. The data journal requires the dataset to be published, and reviewed anonymously.
