Hi!
When I'm playing competitive MM, I usually gets around 200fps. After few rounds fps drops to 10-40 for no reason.

Screenshot with 200fps:

Screenshot with 40fps:

Usually I need:

  1. close game
  2. open it again
  3. reconnect
    ...to solve this issue temporary.

OS: Linux mint 17.2 MATE
Video driver: nvidia-driver 352.30
Hardware: Asus P8Z77-V LX, Intel Core i5-3450, 8GB ram, nvidia gtx560

I also want notice, that around 1 month ago on same configuration everything was OK.

same problem. Smoke, flash, fire and gun shots makes the game unplayable.
Debian 8, Nvidia GTX680 with Nvidia driver

I used to have similar problems, changing resolution would return the FPS to normal and changing my model detail to 'low' seem to prevent the drops. Could you try these workarounds and see if it works for you?

Well, everything is already at "low", except "Model / Texture Detail" - it's on medium. I hope "low" setting will prevent drops, but... it's not normal, what if player want to play with high quality settings?

I hope this weird bug will be fixed.

Hello,

I also like to participate on this thread, as I experience the same issue. All my settings are low. I'll try @jamezmoran 'changing resolution solution' and come back to tell you.

Also want to point out that my card is a AMD which could maybe means that the problem does not come from the drivers but from the game itself.

Same problem here. It seems like the game just runs fine up until you get a sudden fps dip, then it just hovers there until restarted or until certain settings are changed. For me it could drop and stay at 40 fps, 20, sometimes around 17. Almost as if it sets your fps_max to your minimum framerate.

Specifically seems to be a problem with my old Nvidia card, 9800 GTX+, but it happens on multiple Nvidia driver versions (currently 340.96) and all desktop environments for Ubuntu 12.04 and up (currently 16.04 with Unity and GNOME), I've had the problem on every release.

Starting with #1111, we are switching to a common issue report for performance issues in order to keep this issue tracker manageable. If you are still encountering this issue, please post there with your system information as requested at https://github.com/ValveSoftware/csgo-osx-linux#system-information, your graphics settings, and what you are experiencing.
