Compatibility Report

System Information

LOG:
steam-350070.log

Symptoms

Game window launches to graphical corruption. In my case, its terminal window garbage from the Steam terminal. Music plays, mouse and keyboard is functional, but game doesnt render. This is apparently a Wine/Proton regression (https://www.protondb.com/app/350070).

Reproduction

Launch the game

Hello @shoober420, can you verify that the game has better behavior for you with Proton 4.2?

To my surprise, using 4.2-9 and 3.16-9 produced the same results as using 4.11-10. I made sure to check that I was using each different version every time.

Hi,
There seems to be a graphical regression with Proton 5.0-2. When using Proton 4.11-12, the screen seems to render correctly, but the game only renders a black screen with Proton 5.0-2, event though the sound suggests that it is currently running without any problem

Hello @Itrimel, please add PROTON_LOG=1 %command% to the game's launch options and drag and drop the generated $HOME/steam-$APPID.log into the comment box.

After checking the protondb page of the game linked above, I just tried to set PROTON_USE_WINED3D and it worked. Here is the log when running the game without the variable set, in case it could help.

Thanks, fixme:vulkan:X11DRV_vkCreateWin32SurfaceKHR Application requires child window rendering, which is not implemented yet! in the log points towards https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45277.
