Symptoms

The game installs just fine, however I'm not able to get past the launcher. It's stuck in a "checking for updates" loop, the window closes and then opens, and keep doing that until the game process is manually killed.

It seems that the updates are downloaded properly, since the first time it's opened, it downloads all the content through the launcher as expected, but after that, it gets stuck.

It seems that now the game can get past the launcher loop, however it promptly throws an error:

After hitting ok, the game tries to go through, and several other error messages appear:

Clicking on continue greets me with this borked login screen, the controls don't really work properly, making me unable to get into the game:
