Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Peggle Extreme
  • Steam AppID of the game: 3483

System Information

  • GPU: GTX 970
  • Driver/LLVM version: nvidia 440.64
  • Kernel version: 5.5-15
  • Link to full system information report as Gist:
  • Proton version: 5.0-6 RC3

I confirm:

  • that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Log after opening game and pressing Try Peggle Deluxe: steam-3483.log
Log after having game freeze from tabbing out and then back in, then force-closing it: steam-3483.log

Symptoms

  1. Pressing Try Peggle Deluxe in the initial pop-up only minimises the window and does not lead anywhere.

  2. Enabling 3D acceleration locks FPS to 30 and significantly worsens performance (on my desktop it sticks to 30 FPS just fine, but on my laptop with Intel HD 5000 is struggles to stay above 20 FPS).

  3. Tabbing out and then back into the game causes it to freeze and requires you to force it to quit.

Note that I have not attempted to reproduce either of these problems in Windows, so they might as well be game bugs.

Reproduction

    1. Start game
    2. Press Try Peggle Deluxe in pop-up asking whether you want to play Peggle Extreme or try Peggle Deluxe
    3. Observe that it only minimises the window and does not lead anywhere
    1. Go into the game's options and ensure that the 3D acceleration is enabled (may be enabled by default
    2. Enter a level
    1. Start the game
    2. Tab out of the game
    3. Tab back in
