that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
[x ] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.
Symptoms The game crashes when start. Grey screen. Sound works. Pressing buttons works. I can even enter the game, but I only listen to it, can't see anything.
I'm using a Dell XPS 9360. Arch Linux updated.
First time Steam user. Download from multilib library (sudo pacman -S steam, with multilib repository enabled). Opened the app, subscribed, purchased Hollow Knight, downloaded and played for a while. I also have the game for PS4. I noticed that it wasnn't perfect, with some scenario lag, but 100% playable. Installed the package lib32-mesa. Rebooted the system. Played the game for a little while more. After another poweroff, the game started with the issue. I really think that I wasn't even using Proton. I hadn't checked the option "forced the use a specific Steam Play compability tool". I was simple playing it if no tweas. After the problem appeared, I uninstalled Steam and installed it again. Same issue. Then I installed the following packages from AUR: proton and wine-valve-git. I checked the "forced the use a specific Steam Play compability tool" and tested all the options. The Proton version don't even launch the game. The Steam Linux Runtime gives the reported issue.

Hello @wandeledani, the rendering issues with the native linux version of this game is out-of-scope for this issue tracker, but we could ponder the crash-on-init with Proton. Please add PROTON_LOG=1 %command% to the game's launch options and drag and drop the generated $HOME/steam-$APPID.log into the comment box.
Your system information hints that there are no vulkan drivers installed on your system. Please check if you have the vulkan-intel and lib32-vulkan-intel packages installed.
