Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Gravity Sketch
  • Steam AppID of the game: 551370

System Information

I confirm:

  • that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

steam-551370.log

Symptoms

Gravity Sketch launches, loads, then crashed 30 seconds later, bringing steamvr down with it.

Reproduction

Launch steamvr then launch Gravity Sketch

This should hopefully work with the latest Experimental release (experimental-5.13-20210302).

Sorry I didn't see your reply earlier. Gravity Sketch now launches and is fully functional. However, it only displays in one eye on my HTC Vive. Is there an easy fix for that?

Could you please attach the log recorded with the following launch options:
WINEDEBUG=+pid,+loaddll,+timestamp,+seh,+vrclient,+openxr

Also, which eye is displayed: right or left?

Here's the log:
steam-551370.log
I couldn't find the output log from your command, so I used PROTON_LOG=1 %command% which should do the same thing.
The right eye works. Also, it's worth mentioning that I can see the guardian system in both eyes, so it's definitely a problem with gravity sketch not steam vr.

The default log won't tell me anything unfortunately (and I am not reproducing the problem).
Was your launch options command line "WINEDEBUG=+pid,+loaddll,+timestamp,+seh,+vrclient,+openxr %command%" (without quotes? That should work actually and provide the log in the same file.

Ok here's the new log:
Log
I had to put it in a gist because it is over 300,000 lines long and was 30mb which is larger than the max upload.

Thanks. I still don't see anything substantial or can't reproduce it here (but I don't have HTC Vive). Yet I've got a couple of guesses what could go wrong.

Could you please try it with the custom build (based on current Experimental with some VR changes) from here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/r6w1ta1jwrx34mo/exper.zip?dl=0

You'll need to unpack the contents to ~/.local/share/Steam/compatibilitytools.d/
Then you should be able (after restarting Steam) to choose 'exper' compatibility tool in Gravity Sketch properties, Compatibility tab.

UPDATE: Or, if you prefer to build yourselves, I can just attach the patch on top of the current Experimental.

I also suggest to try with the clean prefix (backup /steamapps/compatdata/551370 in case it might have any useful save files and then delete it).
