Hello @Klauswk, it looks like this game would benefit from support for Media Foundation maturing. It may be interesting to try the game with Proton Experimental and share a log.

Thank you for the quick response @kisak-valve, indeed using the experimental version launch the game perfect.

@kisak-valve I tried to run it with the Proton Experimental. Here is the log.

It's sad that the movies are not playing, you can only see the placeholder. Hopefully the log will help :-)

I can confirm @Zlopez, the movies are not playing.

FWIW, The latest GloriousEggroll release (Proton-6.1-GE-2) runs the game fine, with movies. It does have a sound glitch at the end of each movie as it switches back to the game, but it's tolerable.

@georgedorn Do you know if this will be merged to upstream Proton?

@Zlopez The proton devs are free to use anything they want to from the project, but there's no one patch I can point to that explains why GE can display in-game video where Proton cannot. Nobody made a "fix Freakpocalypse" patch - the latest changeset in GE was from before Freakpocalypse was released.

My three guesses as to why it works in GE: something in a later version of wine fixed it, something about switching to faudio fixed it, or some patch to support video in some other game happened to accidentally also fix it.

I tried it today with Proton GE 6.1-GE-2 and I still have the placeholder image instead of intro movie.

The cutscenes are now working with Proton 5.13-6 after 1.08 update, which replaced the mp4 videos with webm.
