Whitelist Request

  • Name of the game to be whitelisted: Hob
  • Steam AppID of the game: 404680

System Information

  • GPU: RX 580 4Gb
  • Driver/LLVM version: Mesa 21.1.2/LLVM 12.0.0
  • Distro version: Manjaro
  • Link to full system information report as Gist: system info
  • Proton version: 6.3-4

I confirm:

  • that pressing the Play button in the Steam client is sufficient.
  • that runtime config options are necessary to run the game.
  • that no workarounds other than PROTON_* env variables are necessary.

Issues

  • I haven't experienced any issues.
  • There are no issues left open for this game.
  • Although I consider the gaming experience equal to Windows there are remaining issues:

I played the game 14.4. hours, from start to finish. The only problem I had is that sometimes the textures were flickering and there were slowdowns here and there but the game was perfectly playable. Seems that these problems are present even on Windows.

The other problem is that the launcher don't remembered my language settings, but it remembered everything else (video config).

Hello @ziabice, flickering textures is something that should be evaluated. Can you share a screenshot if it misbehaving and also mention it to your video driver vendor?

@kisak-valve I tried but it's hard to reproduce. Very easy instead is to reproduce the screen flickering: it becomes blank for one or two frames (is noticeable) constantly while moving or standing still, it happens even in the main title screen. Maybe an API trace will help, but I can't do it now.

Here are some logs, hope they helps...

Tested for about a hour and flickering disappeared completely with Proton 6.3-5.

Sounds like something got fixed by luck instead of something intentional. Thanks for the update, switching back to a whitelist request.

I'm getting quite frequent crashes and from what I could see on protondb I'm not the only one.
system info

Crashes occur frequently in close proximity to save points but are not exclusive to those.

It doesn't make the game unplayable but is quite discouraging.

The crashes are still a thing. It roughly crashed once per hour on my play-through on the steam deck.

There was also a graphics glitch where parts of the world map were displayed in magenta sometimes. Opening and closing the map usually fixed it but often it reappeared when opening the map again.

@nhkode Are you still able to reproduce this on your SD? If so, what OS channel are you using?

@hakzsam I only ran a quick test opening the map a couple of times and was not able to reproduce the magenta artifacts. Can't say anything about the crashes after playing for longer because I don't intend to play the game for an hour or more.
