Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Uncharted Waters Online
  • Steam AppID of the game: 890400

System Information

  • GPU: RX 6600
  • Driver/LLVM version: Mesa 22.1.0-1
  • Kernel version: 5.18.0-zen1-1-zen
  • Link to full system information report as Gist: link
  • Proton version: Proton Experimental May 31st 2022 / GE-Proton7-18 (both behave the same)

I confirm:

  • that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Symptoms

The launcher works, but gameguard fails to init after I press "launch game". Attached is a screenshot of the error.

gamemon

Reproduction

Install the game through steam on linux. Make sure Proton Experimental is forced in the compatibility tab of the game's properties. Start the game from the launcher (after opening the game on steam). The game might update and close, you may have to do this a few times before the game is completely up to date. When it finally is updated and the game attempts to start, gameguard will fail to init as described.

I have had success getting the game to run in wine/crossover. I had to install the game on Steam, I couldn't get the downloader to work on a seperate bottle. I messed around with a gameguard uninstaller i downloaded off of steam. I deleted some registry keys then I cut and paste the gameguard folders back into the program directory. However, now i am having a problem running the program in full screen mode, on virtual desktop in a small box it works flawlessly. I'm getting gstreamer errors and it crashes in full screen. After I already installed all the gst plugins. the lib32 ones.
