Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Deathsmiles I・II
  • Steam AppID of the game: 1884300

System Information

I confirm:

  • [✔] that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • [✔] that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Symptoms

Crash without any error pop-up.

Reproduction

Launch the game, select Deathsmiles II in the initial menu, then select the Deathsmiles II X or Deathsmiles II Arrange book, start the game, then select one of the difficulties. Original.dll or Arrange.dll should be loaded according to a Proton log.

Miscellaneous

The game is not tested with standard Linux and Proton versions. The game plays perfectly if you select any of Deathsmiles modes or the Arcade mode of Deathsmiles II. If necessary, I'll retest with standard Linux kernel and Proton.
Despite the game crashing right after loading mfmediaengine.dll, no video cutscene is supposed to play during the moment of crash.

Works with Proton Experimental. The only thing missing are video cutscenes in Deathsmiles II X and Deathsmiles II Arrange modes.
