The game suffers from significant performance problems. The game itself is definitely not demanding because I was able to finish it on Windows years ago on a much older machine. I have upgraded my hardware since, but I still don't think it's running acceptably. Last time I tested the game on that previous computer in Linux (when I made the last compatibility report on ProtonDB), the game was so slow it was unplayable, and on my current computer it's still rather choppy and has some input delay. I have checked the game in older versions of Proton and the performance is similar to the current one and better than on my old PC, so I think it's either just utilizing the hardware poorly or some new dependencies or something with drivers.
Gamemode and disabling DXVK, esync, and fsync don't affect the performance at all. There are in-game settings to use MMX and SSE instructions, but those don't make a noticeable difference either.
