Every game crashes on boot if eGPU is connected #6682
Comments
Hello @oromis995, in general, we're tracking issues with games run with Proton in the Proton issue tracker, so I've transferred this issue report. Please add In general this reads like a video driver issue and this should also be mentioned to your video driver vendor. |
Thank you for taking the time to look at this and answering so promptly @kisak-valve . I am running an Nvidia RTX 2060 12GB over Akitio Node Titan with drivers 530.41.03 according to the Nvidia Server Settings. According instead to the cli a full list of video drivers installed can be found: Thank you again and please let me know if there is anything else I can do to facilitate the resolution. Sincerely, oromis95 |

Description
Upon launching most games with a connected eGPU, the game will crash on boot. This includes Fractured Space, Empyrion Galactic Survival, Elite Dangerous and many others. The only one that does not crash is Stellaris for some reason. I have attached my stack trace. Compatibility options do not seem to make a difference which leads me to believe it's a driver issue of some sort. Python applications and 3D modeling applications are able to use the eGPU just fine, so it's not an issue with the GPU itself.
Thanks!
