Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: Silent Hill 3
  • Steam AppID of the game:Non-Steam game

System Information

I confirm:

  • that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

sh3-proton-8.0-2.txt

Symptoms

SMPTE color bars being displayed instead of intro FMV using Proton 8.0-2. If using Proton Experimental, the FMV just gets skipped instead.

If launching with Lutris using Proton Experimental, the FMV is a black screen, but audio plays. With WINE lutris-fshack-7.2, the FMV works perfectly fine.

Reproduction

Launch the game through Steam and wait for the splash screens to disappear. I am using D8VK and Steam006's mod from PCGW if that's important, but I have similar issues with the FMV using the unmodified game as well.

Can confirm the same issue on an unmodified copy of the game using a fresh Proton prefix.

On stock WINE stable 8.0 and with Proton-GE 8-3 and 7-55, the game just crashes when it gets to the FMV.
