TF2 only takes up half the screen after focus loss #1904
Comments
I am also using Arch linux, but this doesn't happen for me.
Try changing the driver from whatever you are using to the other one and report back. If that doesn't fix it, try changing your resolution to the native one. |
I reported a similar problem here: #1832 Which seems to be related to multiple monitors. |
Hello, is anyone still experiencing this issue with an up to date system? |
Closing pending feedback. |
I'm still having this issue. It seems to only happen when you have multiple monitors.
EDIT: Here's what I've gathered (main monitor = 2560x1440, second monitor = 1920x1080):
My guess is that it's because I have two monitors with two different resolutions. |
I personally no longer have this issue nowadays. But that may just be because I no longer own that computer and no longer use KDE. |
Possibly related to ValveSoftware/csgo-osx-linux#1322. |
i am experiencing this too.
|
I am having this issue too, it is very similar to ValveSoftware/csgo-osx-linux#1322 but I am experiencing this in CSS so I decided to post here instead, KDE appears to be fine but in gnome and gnome based environments, CSS restores to my primary monitor using the secondary (left) monitor's resolution and ratio

Facing the same issue in both tf2 and cs:go. I am using gnome desktop. This issue isn't present in older source games such as l4d2 and portal 2. System Information
|
Still facing this issue in tf2, for some reason game uses the resolution of my 2 other displays (1920 x 1200) instead of the resolution of primary display (2560 x 1440 @ 144Hz) the game is running on. I also remember experiencing this exact problem with csgo, but I haven't tested recently. System Information

Still having this issue in 2020. Valve if you see this, please fix your Linux ports. System Information
|
I managed to solve this problem on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS by putting What I tried before that was For both commands replace 2560 1440 with your monitors resolution of course. |
My main monitor is 2560x1440, and this issue did not occur with a secondary display using any 4:3 or 5:4 resolution. Now, with a secondary display using 1920x1080, the display error occurs as described in the original issue post. @Borloxos 's fix resolved the problem entirely for me. System Information

Still experiencing this exact issue three years later :/ Only component/accessory shared by my previous setup/install and this is the Dell 1920x1200 secondary monitor. System Information
|
Also experiencing this with a 3440x1440 main monitor and two 1920x1080 monitors |
My fix was just enforcing the resolution in TF2 via command-line arguments |
Do you enforce every time you open the game? |
No, you can just pass arguments directly from Steam and force the resolution that way |
Tried this but got it working by creating a autoexec.cfg file |
OP, does this still happen with an updated OS? |
Closing pending feedback. |
