CS:GO freezing and soundloop with crash #1297
Comments
Hello @Frankonianblue, please copy your system information from steam ( |
Computerinformationen: Prozessor: Netzwerkinformationen: Betriebssystem: Grafikkarte:
Soundkarte: Speicher: Weitere Daten: Neueste Fehlerberichte: |
And here are the dump files. |
For reference, the first assert is a SIGSEGV in steamclient.so. The second assert is a SIGABRT in linux-gate.so. The Crash is a DUMP_REQUESTED in crash-handler.so. |
I don't know what it means. But thx for that. |
Well ok it means that it has nothing to do with the GPU, doesn't it? |
Oh i forgot to mention that the whole system crashes so that i have to shutdown the system manually by pressing the powerbutton. So after the last crash about 5 minutes ago Steam -> Help -> System information didn't show any Errors at all. |
That makes it much harder to troubleshoot this issue. Typically files in /tmp are not kept between reboots. In general, no opengl application including CS:GO should be capable of freezing a system like you describe, hinting that this is most likely a driver bug or something with the hardware. I would check if you can ssh into the system after it appears frozen, to determine if the kernel is still alive or if the system is hardlocked. Sorry I can't be of much more help. |
Thanks a lot for yout help. Meanwhile i detected that the steamclient is crashing as well .... perhaps it's a combination of CS:GO communicating with the client. I tried to come into the system back again by killing the x server (Ctrl+alt+F1) but even that didn't effect anything. |
Oh wait when I try to start the game in the terminal there is an error: SDL video target is 'x11' |
Running CS:GO from outside of steam is unsupported. As an alternative, you can check the log at |
Thx @kisak-valve got it. I started steam with native libs. After a few games same problem freezing with pixelerrors all across the screesn and soundloop. But now after a few minutes of waiting the pixelerrors disappeared. And after a few minutes later the frozen game crashed. And I found my self back in the system but it was very laggy. The cursor moved only with extrem latency but anyway i was able to get into the dump-folder by killing the x server and going via ssh. So could take a copy of the log files i hope we can find something in there. And fourthermore....after killing x i saw a notification in the shell called NVRM: Xid(PCI:0000:01:00) : 8 Channel 000000001 |
If I'm reading the log correctly, crash_20170120021752_1.dmp is CS:GO crashing with a SIGABRT in libc-2.24.so coming from libnvidia-glcore.so.375.26. |
Yes it seems to be a problem of the gpu the error NVRM:Xid....8 is one of nvidias errorcodes and #8 says |
I have a similar problem: Random freeze, soundloop maybe blackscreen and I also have to use the power button to restart the computer. |
@fabio963 I managed to solve it. But I don't really know wich of my actions really did it.
So far I had no crashes |
@Frankonianblue, glad to hear you resolved your issue. If I had to guess, 6 makes sense if the video card had substantially blocked airflow causing it to run too hot and 5 makes sense if there's a driver bug related to maxing out your VRAM, which is easily possible with your card. I can reopen this issue if you had a false positive. |
Hello Guys,
as an old linuxuser I decided to upgrade even my Gaming- and Afterwork PC to Manjaro. But I'm suffering with an Error in CS:GO.
While gaming I get smooth 200 FPS+ no lags. Everything is fine to that point the screen freezes and the last sound goes into a loop. I already tried different dirvers. I changend the startingoptions as said in many threads here. But nothing stoped the game from crashing. And with CS:GO beeing the only game I play after work.... it's very bad.
GPU Specs:
Card: NVIDIA GF100 [GeForce GTX 470]
Display Server: X.Org 1.19.1 driver: nvidia
Resolution: 1680x1050@59.95hz
GLX Renderer: GeForce GTX 470/PCIe/SSE2
GLX Version: 4.5.0 NVIDIA 375.26
I also tested to update any sound drivers and add corresponding startoptions...nothing
Any ideas?
