I'm a maintainer of nixpkgs, NixOS's repo. We are trying to fix the CJK font problem on NixOS: NixOS/nixpkgs#312268

We found that steam don't follows font-config in /etc/fonts , we're finding a way to make steam works out of the box for CJK users on NixOS.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

1. start steam with FONTCONFIG_FILE=/home/cryolitia/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf steam, make sure the file exists
