Half-Life crashes when started in fullscreen mode. #838
Comments
I had this problem too and fixed it the same way. Do you have sound? I'm not getting any. |
Yes, sound is working on my end. Maybe some problem with alsa or pulseaudio? |
I have same Issue with fullscreen-mode. I have Sound and windowing also fixing the problem (but is not that pleasure):
My Hardware is a bit better, but ubuntu is older LTS Version:

The config trick works for me too! Great. This should be default. |
I have the same issue. The config trick works for me as well, but I want to play in a fullscreen mode. I have Intel video and my resolution is 1280x800. Drivers and Ubuntu are uptodate |
I had the same problem, and nothing of sounds. I play all tuto but i have not sound. |
Half-Life now uses some newer OpenGL API's to render efficiently on Linux, it is failing when trying to make a fullscreen buffer object (FBO). Can you post the output of glxinfo please. In particular we are trying to make use of MSAA. |
Same problem here with an AMD APU E-350. |

After update HL can run fullscreen, but immediately I got this error: Setting breakpad minidump AppID = 70 |
When I try to start Half-Life in full-screen mode, I get a black screen for a second and then the game crashes.
I then tried to run the game in windowed mode and everything worked flawlessly.
I had to change
ScreenWindowed
from0
to1
in~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Half-Life/hl.conf
to get the game starting in windowed mode.My graphics card (Intel Mobile GM965) is pretty bad and old but it's more than enough to run the game comfortably. Running the last drivers.
Hardware info:
Terminal output from when starting the game in full-screen:
