1.0.1 Post-release initial bugfixes

  • Fixed issue that caused imported characters to get stuck as ElderRace if they took too long to load. If you are still getting this bug, either your system is very slow to load or you don't have the right version of RaceMenu/Chargen.dll installed.
  • Fixed "Character Tracking" option not working in MCM.
  • Fixed VoiceTypes being reset after a save/load.
  • Removed a ton of debug messages that were spamming the Papyrus file.
  • Fixed a potential (but unlikely) CTD that could occur while applying perks or shouts.
  • Deprecated Deps build.

Download the Deps version ONLY if you can't install RaceMenu or JContainers for some reason. The Deps file is only for testing and will cause compatibility problems long-term.

Release candidate 1

All features planned for the 1.0 release are IN, and all known bugs that are fixable before 1.0 are fixed! Only cosmetic changes will be made between now and 1.0!

Changes

  • Global options page has been temporarily removed from MCM. It will be back (and populated) with version 1.1.0.
  • Various very minor bugfixes.
  • By default FF added spells to characters based on their perks. This behavior can now be overridden from within MCM to allow magic by school (Alteration, Destruction, etc).

Two distributions are available now

  • Deps includes Familiar Faces + JContainers, CharGen Extender, and NIOverride. This is essentially what all builds up until now have included.
  • NoDeps includes Familiar Faces. JContainers, RaceMenu/CharGen Extender + NIOverride must be installed separately. This will be the auto-installable version released on Nexus.

Compatibility with AFT

I've received a couple of reports that AFT is not playing well with Familiar Faces. This is creating some difficulty in getting imported characters to retain their VoiceType, spells, etc when they are acting as followers. For now it is recommended that you use AFT for all Follower management functions if you have it installed, as it will blow away any changes FF makes.

  • SHOUTS ARE IN! Shouts are now added to the imported characters without corrupting savegames like AddShout does! However... if you have a mod that for some reason uses RemoveShout on followers, you risk savegame corruption! I can't fix this, the AddShout/RemoveShout functions are fundamentally broken when used on NPCs. This is fairly common knowledge and no one should be using those functions, but I feel obligated to issue the warning nevertheless. It's a miracle that expired got this working at all. As a result, in the next release (which should be the RC) the ability to import shouts will be a toggle option in MCM.
  • Perk abilities are no longer stripped during upkeep, which means perks like Muffled Movement should now work as intended on your imported characters.
  • This version replaces Expired's customized CharGen.dll with the standard release included with RaceMenu 2.7.2. Functions provided by the custom version have been broken off into their own SKSE plugin, ffutils.dll, that can be distributed with FF without compatibility worries.

Delete the contents of Data/vMYC and start from a clean save! Upgrading from beta1 to beta2 is not supported and will break custom locations entirely!

Changes this release

  • Characters set as foes can now be defeated. When they go into bleedout, they explode like Sauron and are returned to their shrine
  • Characters should now never get stuck in limbo
  • Made additional changes to ensure that the portal stone is placed in inventory after starting the game. If you are still not getting it, then there is something wrong with your scripting engine and I'll need to see your papyrus log to be of any help to you
  • Decapitation is disabled when fighting an imported character, since there was a real chance the player could get decapitated, which causes a CTD.
  • Minor bugfixes to back-end issues

First general release beta. Please report bugs using the Github Issues system!

Requirements

  • Latest version of Skyrim - Dawnguard and Dragonborn are supported but not required.
  • SKSE 1.7.0 - Not included. Download and install if you're not using it already. Earlier versions WILL NOT WORK. The mod will notice if SKSE is missing and will shut down.
  • SkyUI 4.1 - Not included. Required for using MCM.
  • JContainers 0.67.1 or higher - Included. This is an SKSE plugin that is packaged with this testing edition.
  • CharGen.dll - Included. This is a special testing version of Expired's CharGen Extender SKSE plugin. See the Warnings section below. If you are running the release versions of CharGen Extender or RaceMenu, BACK THEM UP BEFORE INSTALLING FAMILIAR FACES.
  • Extensible Follower Framework - Not required, but recommended for follower management. UFO and AFT should also work, but EFF is specifically supported.
  • Auto Unequip Ammo - Not required, but recommended to help your imported followers (who frequently have several types of ammo on them) pick the best ammo for their current weapon.

  • You must re-save all your characters for custom weapons to be transferred!
  • Implements saving/loading of custom weapon that are not equipped.
  • CombatStyle selection is now more effective, and spells are only used if there are perks devoted to their school of magic.
  • Alcove you're saving in will now always have lighting priority over others.
