createImageBitmap

A newly exposed API called createImageBitmap seems to be somewhat stepping on this proposal's toes.

Would it be possible to converge? If not, can we outline the differences?

It still seems to rely on an image element, which is not what we want.

I think this is covered in the spec in section 5.1 (Potential alternative solutions / Additional ImageBitmap methods). Premultiplication and resources living in GPU memory are the main barriers. Moving all that stuff to the explainer document is issue #9.
