Considering the purpose of Presets in Lishogi, it would be a neat idea to include a second page that allows you to play Shogi variants on Lishogi.

You don’t need to fit every variant on the front page, my idea is to do a weekly selection of about 4 variants, (1 per row) each variant having these options:

  • Normal time - about 10|30 will do, but it should scale depending on board size. (E.g Chu Shogi is longer while Kyoto/Minishogi is shorter.)
  • Correspondence - 3-5 Days, could be longer for Chu Shogi. For variants such as Minishogi that aren't normally played in correspondence, use an alternative time control.
  • Play against AI - Also uses basic time controls. (For variants such as Annan and Chu Shogi who don’t have an AI, an alternative time control/correspondence will do.

This should help make variants more accessible for people who want to give them a go. :)

I also wanted to somehow make variants more accessible on the main page - but switching things around might make things confusing and people might not notice it's a variant and select it accidentally...

Ah, alright a bit more clear/better.
You can do it in tabs, like how the piece sets are done right now. One tab has the normal set of 12 for Standard Shogi while the other tab is for Variants.

And on the variants tab, you can also include a bar on top of each row denoting which variant is featured there.
