Putting the "We" in Web 3

Style of Session: 30 min Regular Talk

Audience Type: Beginner/Intermediate- Although anyone can understand, to actually implement this model, your community needs to be at a certain stage of maturity in the community life cycle

Audience Takeaway:

  • Ideology behind building sharded communities - good, bad and ugly
  • Clear understand of the mental models around building decentralized communities- governance, tooling & member motivations
  • Building a community centeric model- what, when and how to measure

Description:
In this talk, we'll dive into the approach that we've taken at NEAR to think about community building and strategy. Building and scaling the NEAR Guild program from a handful of guilds to over 150+ around the world. We'll talk about some of the models within the community industry and more specifically, what we've chosen and why. This should give the audience a better sense of why we made certain decisions and how we see the future of on chain communities. We'll also cover some of the good, great, bad and ugly from the community with stories from the trenches. This should give you a sense of what to do, but most importantly, what not to do. For the community builders or founders in the room, we'll also touch on measuring metrics within the community space- what's a vanity metric and what's worth measuring. Lastly, we'll talk about the importance of education with specific action items for anyone interested in Web3 education.

Format: 20-25 minute talk with 5 minutes of Q and A.
