Hi, i want to play World of warcraft 2.4.3 windows client on whisky. After i log in to my account and select the realm i get this "illegal instruction" error: 0xC000001D (ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION) at 0107:0F952625.
Further information in the logs.
My mac:
Mac mini M1, 2020
8 GB ram
macOS Sonoma 14.0
Steps to reproduce
Get a default windows 2.4.3 client (i got mine from stormforge.gg)
Need to have an account because the problem occurs after login
Copy the Word of Warcraft folder into the bottle directory
Leave the newly created bottle on default settings
Click on run in whiskey and select the wow.exe in the previously copied directory
It seems World of Warcraft is using AVX instructions, which aren't supported by Rosetta. Unless there's some workaround or patch, there's unfortunately no way to fix this.
@IsaacMarovitz
This version of WoW client was released before AVX instruction set was released. (WoW TBC 2007, AVX 2008).
The error message says it failed in the instruction with an opcode 63 which corresponds to the MOVSXD instruction.
