We want to support any regular lonlat grid in the frontend. Not all grid points will be defined at the same points, but will be sometimes shifted (e.g. staggered velocity grid). This information is saved in the PNG metadata and can be passed to the shaders to automatically shift the data visualisation grid accordingly.
