Unfortunately we don't have any idea what's causing this.

I am 99.9999% sure this is only related to Windows 8, is there no lead you can chase from that?

someone lil had a fix by reinstalling and reformatting windows8.

maybe there is a way around this what modules .dlls and such does windower use of the windows operating system to run plugins?

That person also started experiencing the issue again after windows updates happened (or maybe a system change they forgot about). We will be looking into it a bit more.

I have been experiencing this issue on Windows 8 since late May... done a lot of research and testing and believe I found the problem.

The "Module not found" error appears to be related with the latest Windows 8 NVIDIA display drivers (320.18). When this driver installed in late May, the problem started happening. As soon as I rolled back the driver to the Windows 8 preferred version (311.06), all the plugins and addons load perfectly fine. I cannot replicate the issue under NVIDIA driver 311.06.

FYI my video card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 4Gb.

Hopefully this helps someone with the same issue!

See if this post helps you.

You might need to use a driver cleaner to remove the current driver.

Once you've downgraded, try upgrading to the latest version again, but when you do, be sure to check the "Clean install" option (or something like that). There is one report of this fixing the issue, even with the latest drivers.

is that a desktop driver only because when i search for it on Nvidia doesnt come up for my card
the closest one i can find for my 630M series is driver 310.90

UPDATE: Been using the latest NVIDIA driver (320.18) for the last couple of days with FFXI with no problem. However, it seems as soon as I changed any setting in NVIDIA Control Panel, it breaks Windower again. Tried a clean installation of 320.18 again, which failed...

It's definitely NVIDIA 320.* drivers. I was working fine until I updated them. GTX570.

Gonna close this as this is a driver issue and there seems to be little we can do about it.
