27 guidelines + an introduction is 'too much' and yet the content is needed. This is the hella hard thing by the way. Because ripping it all apart is messy and it's hard to see the end. Take a deep breath.

I propose to start the reorg, we break things into actionable items.

  1. Clean up the intro to explain what we're trying to do (make the forums a place for people to get free help on the use and development of WP, as well as plugins and themes hosted on .org)
  2. Separate guidelines from technical FAQ things (searching before posting isn't a guideline, it's a FAQ answer to 'How do I post so people will answer me?')
  3. Condense the guidelines contextually. Don't repeat content so much. Get rid of 'The bad stuff' entirely. If we can't fit it into guidelines in general, we're doing this wrong.

And I'm about to put my money where my mouth is and make a couple more issues to track how this works. I will note, I hacked the guidelines down to less than 15.
