In order for MajorAudit to work, we need to be able to somehow access a user's previously taken courses. Right now, there seems to be 2 possibilities:

  • Directly access degree audit
    • "I talked to the yalies.io lead about the backend for our project, and he recommended doing a pretty cool approach to get previous courses of the user. So it's possible to launch the degree audit website through an iframe, which then prompts a login (also acting as the onboarding to the website), then you scrape the iframe to get the data needed. But we do need think about if we need any more information and whether the login gets saved locally"
  • just have users enter previous courses in onboarding
    • this kinda sucks and should be a last resort if the iframe/chrome extension thing doesn't work
