@aboSamoor version 0.42 contains a number of fixes that resolve issues such as #23. Changes have already been made in this repository but not uploaded to PyPI as of now.

At this time I have removed myself from github.com/aboSamoor/pycld2 seeing that you don't seem to have much interest in actually pushing contributed changes to an actual package index.

It looks like this project been abandoned by the original creator. Is there a fork or another package that you recommend @bsolomon1124 ?

Hi @arehart13 , I can suggest two alternatives:

  • https://github.com/bsolomon1124/pycld3 , written by the community and currently maintained by me, is a wrapper around Google's cld3
  • The Google cld3 project, https://github.com/google/cld3, looks to have just recently added Python bindings of its own using pybind11, called gcld3. I have made a disclaimer / advertisement about this in the pycld3 readme because, stepping back and trying to be impartial on the matter, I see no reason not to prefer a Python binding that is distributed with the official cld3 source itself.
