need a way of pushing new items to a users computer of new items in there account.

? small app that notifies a user (e.g. https://www.npmjs.com/package/node-notifier)

web browsers do have notification service too. We use that.

One small hiccup is that we are locking down iPads and the like to not have access to Safari - so would need to run in its own self contained app (or we lock down Safari differently so it can only access a whitelist of sites)
