AppleALC already have support for this codec. All three revisions are supported. I have Asus P5Q. It works well from 10.9 till 10.11.6. Don't have Sierra on this rig. You should try it on El Capitan. If it works try on Sierra with debug kext and -alcdbg in bootargs and provide log.

yes, it works well from 10.9 till 10.11.6 and even works well on 10.12beta4 rig, but doesn’t work on Sierra rig from Beta5 till 10.12GM
