mongo db allows users to build an index on geographical data (pairs of floats as lat,lon?)

Jaccson should allow users to build a geo index on a field, utilizing a space filling curve or other technique to provide fast queries over geographical boxes, specified as two corners, or perhaps a center and a radius.
