Using this image: https://wiki.debian.org/RaspberryPiImages
I'm getting:

[PITFT] Making sure console doesn't use PiTFT
Removing console fbcon map from /boot/cmdline.txt
sed: can't read /boot/cmdline.txt: No such file or directory
Screen blanking time reset to 10 minutes
sed: can't read /etc/rc.local: No such file or directory
sed: can't read /etc/rc.local: No such file or directory
[PITFT] Exiting due to error: Unable to configure console

hi please use raspbian - we know it works here :)

hi you can DIY it by reading thru the script and making adjustments
