Request from Jonathan in the Brackets-Dev list:

"do you think you could integrate your extension into the official Go To Definition function? The Bracket's function would greatly benefit from being turned into a global search and a way to open it pre-filled with the currently selected variable or function name."

I think we need a version of Go To Definition feature that remains local to the current file. If the search space for function names become project wide it will increase the number of input characters needed before the desired function to narrowed down in the list. I'd vote for keeping the function list local, more of an outline type feature.
