I had RubyInstaller working on Windows 7. I installed ansicon and immediately I would get a crash after starting the "Command Prompt with Ruby on Rails" or starting any of the ruby or rails executables. I uninstalled ansicon. Same result. Reboot. Same result. I uninstalled and reinstalled RubyInstaller. Same result. How can I fully clean up after ansicon?

I found Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Command Processor\AutoRun in the Registry Editor. It contained a string referring to ansicon. After I renamed AutorRun to AutoRunDisabled, all Ruby on Rails stuff is working fine. I'm guessing that for some reason uninstallation was supposed to remove or clean up that registry entry but didn't.
Are you using NVIDIA? Try adding ANSICON_EXC=nvd3d9wrap.dll to your environment. Don't know why uninstall wouldn't work, sorry (works fine for me in XP & VIsta, both 32-bit).
