Maybe end of HLAE support in general, not sure currently; Maybe we'll move to Linux or halt operations completely.
As you probably noticed HLAE development has been slower than usual in the past 1 - 2 years.
We thought it's only fair to let you know, what's coming down the road, even though it's not set in stone.
Please remember that HLAE is open source and you are welcome to fork / make your own or otherwise contribute to it (if a honest good person wants to take over the lead and the team agrees, we'll find a way).
The reasons for me wanting to step down from the project, or at least project lead, is that, while this hobby project requires high personal dedication and motivation, it has only very low impact for society in a way that I'd consider positive from my point of view.
With Windows 10 support coming to an end (and me not wanting to buy a new PC just because of Windows) and tools like Source Film Maker for CS2, end of CS:GO and other things aligning as well, it seems like a good chance to step down (maybe even a bit late, HLAE is past its prime already).
I want to thank the whole HLAE team, all contributors, supporters, movie makers and other users and those helping each other on Discord every day, and those that feel they should have been mentioned here, that I forgot.
Sincerely,
Dominik
Current HLAE lead programmer.
PS: While we are still accepting donations, I'd personally recommend to not donate for the time being, since currently it seems like wasted money, HLAE never was about the money for me at least.
