can be translated into the expression
RegPath(<a>, ?b, <locatedIn>*) JOIN IndexScan(?b <hasName> <name>)

may be  translated into two different expressions

RegPath(IndexScan(?a <property> <p1>), ?b, locatedIn*) JOIN IndexScan(?b, <hasName> <name>) 

 or 

RegPath(IndexScan(?a <property1> <p1>), IndexScan(?b <hasName> <name>), locatedIn*)
in the latter case the RegPath operator serves as a join
