Tell us about the problem you're trying to solve

$options is used to pass down properties to subcomponents without having to redefine the values to keep things DRY.

The keyword however doesn't mean much. We should rename it to a keyword that is less overloaded and/or more meaningful.

Describe the solution you’d like

From very brief discussion with Sherif and Brian, we're leaning towards "inputs" but I'm still open for a good alternative
