Couldn't download attachment: request timed out

Thanks for AirMessage. It's a great app.

I received an image today but the attachment couldn't download and gave an error:

Couldn't download attachment: request timed out

I tried to download it multiple times and it immediately gives the error again without waiting for any timeout. Force quitting the app and trying again didn't have an effect.

I tried using the "sync recent messages" command as well but that wiped out all my local messages.

There's a few others on Reddit with this problem as well.

Client version: FDroid 3.5.1
Server version: 4.1.3
Connected to server using manual setup
OS: CalyxOS 3.8.0 (Android 12)

Update

When I send a message to a number that I have chat history with, the history shows up in the thread viee. But after sending the message, the main view still shows no chat history. After receiving a response, all chat history appears.

There are no chat threads on the main AirMessage view.
