Someone asked me what is the minimum configuration required to run airsonic.

I know that a raspi3 is waaaaaaaay more than enough, but what about other popular devices, like a raspi zero?

Let's say :

RAM (minimum) RAM (recommended) Hard Drive
512 megabytes 1024 megabytes 1 gigabytes (+ media storage)

Bare minimum : 512 RAM

My /var/airsonic is taking a bit less than 128MB of disc space, with a large library, recommending 1GB is a bit overkill.

256 megabytes for storage it is then.

Mine is currently at 386Mb, but that includes lots of duplicates since I have flac/mp3/ogg/aac versions of the same stuff.

Worse can, we can have a list of devices along with the amount of RAM/CPU/storage, something like:

RAM (minimum) RAM (recommended) Hard Drive
512 megabytes 1024 megabytes 256 megabytes (+ media storage)

Airsonic is known to run flawlessly on:

  • Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Rev 1.2
  • ODROID C2

Airsonic has been observed to run quite well for a single user with -Xmx200m on an Intel Atom C2350. Music was playing from both a Clementine client with the API and the regular web UI on different songs. The web UI was clunky as usual but worked okay.

As an extra information, my /var/airsonic is about 65MiB for:

  • 325 artists
  • 1,413 albums
  • 18,714 songs
  • 175.43 GB
