About this change - What it does

  • Stop testing on Python 3.7.
  • Update default version to Python 3.8 in various places.
  • Stop advertising support for Python 3.7.

Why this way

Python 3.7 EOL is less than 3 months away. Should critical fixes be needed for 3.7, they can still be applied in patch releases for our current minor versions.
