Amend does not seem to restore multiple newlines.

If I amend a previous commit that contained multiple newlines, they don't seem to be restored. For example, if I commit the following message:

Short summary.

Some longer description.
# ... (Git output in comment)

This shows up fine in the log. If I amend this commit, I get an editor with the following contents:

Short summary.
Some longer description
# ... (Git output in comment)

If it's a bug somewhere else, my apologies. If it's not, it's just a minor bug, but I thought I'd report it anyway.
