Is there any way I can get an event when the user clicks on one of the side menu items?

I am using your theme and I want to use the side bar collapsable/expandable. So whenever the user routes to a new page, the side menu should collapse but it always stays expanded. I couldnt find any setting where I can do it, and im not sure how to manually handle it since it doesnt have any output event emitters for element clicked.

Can anyone advise on how to fix my issue? Thanks!
