https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=677887

Google restricts login and synchronization of third-party versions, and there is currently no solution

If that's the case, how is anybody using this on android in the meantime? Does everyone just use it without logging into a profile, or jump through a wacky hoop like removing their main Google account from their phone and then adding it back through Thorium? Or does uninstalling Google's Chrome let it work?

Removing the account and adding it again doesn't work. They just don't login.
It's just a pointless loop
I don't see any solutions to this other than complaining to Google about it

Found this googling the same issue. This makes this browser less useful if we can't sync our Google account :(
Hopefully this will change in the future, because the desktop version is amazing :)

I was so excited to check this browser out. but this makes it completely useless if there is no way to add google account and sync.

Anyone found any workaround?

Is there any update or fix for this, as I'm still experiencing the same issue on the latest version

I use Thorium on an ARM32 Android device without Google Services, yes.

Damn, I just ran into this as well... Oddly enough, it worked fine just a month or so ago

@kimboslice99 Are you sure? Google Sync was working in Thorium for Android? Because it has never worked in my testing, and continues to not work in any Chromium build for Android due to the linked bug, where Google is restricting the API Keys.

I still include the API Keys in the build, because it allows the Location API to work properly (if you allow it on a given site)

Yeah, im positive it worked on android 8.

Is it possible to add a Google account and log in directly without using other methods?

The above is only to confirm the specific situation.
