I am trying to use the gog install, but I don't understand what folder exactly I have to copy to get the assets. There is no "gamedata" folder if I display the context of the app installed. Could we get up-to-date instructions that does not require to install it on a separate Windows machine? Thanks!

Here are the steps:

  • Download the app from Gog
  • Find it in the finder and right click to show the package contents
  • Navigate to Contents/Resources/games
  • Right click on the Fallout 2 app to show the package contents
  • Navigate to drive_c/Program Files/GOG.com, you will find the fallout 2 folder that you need to copy

If you have Homebrew installed, brew install innoextract. Download the Windows installers and copy them to a folder (Fallout 2 is a good name), then run innoextract setup_fallout2_2.1.0.18.exe.

After that you should be able to follow the regular instructions.

Ironically, check the Fallout 1 Community Edition readme for the instructions for the GoG version.
