Two problems:

  1. Vim-gtk2 has vanished from Debian - it's just a dummy to install vim-gtk3
  2. Vte gtk2 version has vanished too

The first issue is easy enough to fix, and I have submitted a fix for it.
The second is much harder as it requires updating the whole UI to gtk3 or finding an older package of python-vte, which is an exercise best left to the reader.

I'm considering the future of this project, and I think the best course is a new version which is entirely gtk3 + neovim. I will likely give it a new name/repository but spiritually this will be PIDA 3.0.

I still use a8 every day for work, so I really will need to be maintaining it.

Years ago I loved PIDA. Found a8 couple days ago but was not able to run it on U18.04 because of missing system parts.
