Usability testing sessions found that some users would find it helpful if there were numbers associated with the questions they had added on the form overview page. This would help them:

  • have better context of the order of questions
  • whether they had added all the questions required, especially when copying from an existing form
  • reorder questions, and checking if a question has been moved in the way they intended

Some things to consider:

Which component is the best and most accessible?

  • table
  • ul/ol - un/ordered list
  • dl - definition list - summary list

Does it make sense to show additional text?

We could just show the number, and visually hide "question"/"page" content.

  • How will this impact sighted users?
  • Does this still make sense if we are using a table?

Other bits

  • simple is better, try not to add too much information to the screen
  • what impact will the chosen design have on future routing and sectioning of questions
