calling system id directly from URL

I know this is old and not maintained, but i forked a version and i'm trying to use ESI and make it work again. So far i looked into all code but cannot seem to find where to setup a URL rewrite so something like

xxx.com/J100200 to actual show something when the page loads, directly the intel info and information.

didn't find any .htaccess nor see something related in the code for this.
