trouble rendering within Ionic framework directives

Hello,

I really like your activity indicator directive but have been having trouble getting it to work within any Ionic framework components. ( https://github.com/driftyco/ionic )

I have been trying various things to figure it out but I am still pretty new to Angular so I'm having trouble determining where the problem is between your code and the Ionic framework.

The canvas element is rendered within the Ionic component and the canvas drawing code is also executed but for some reason nothing is rendered to the view.

I don't know if you have time or inclination but I have created a simple demo project to illustrate the issue if you are interested:
