Bug, feature request, or proposal:

Bug

What is the expected behavior?

Sidenav makes state changes without animations.

What is the current behavior?

Sidenav does not complete state changes and some animations still occur.

What are the steps to reproduce?

Add [@.disabled] to the element containing a sidenav container and attempt to use sidenav.

Providing a Plunker (or similar) is the best way to get the team to see your issue.

Which versions of Angular, Material, OS, TypeScript, browsers are affected?

@angular/angular 4.3.6
@angular/material 2.0.0-beta.10

At least chrome and firefox

Is there anything else we should know?
